Intervention form is available at the bottom of the page!
What?
Early interventions are targeted support and resources provided to students who may be struggling academically or facing other challenges, such as behavioral issues or attendance concerns. These interventions aim to help students stay on track, improve their academic performance, and successfully complete their classes.
Why?
Promoting early interventions within the classroom benefits both students and the teacher. Here are some examples:
Preventing Academic Failure: By addressing their challenges before the quarter ends, teachers can ensure students have a better chance of passing the course with the necessary skills and content knowledge.
Boosting Confidence and Motivation: When students receive support and see improvements in their academic performance, it can boost their confidence and motivation in the classroom.
Enhancing Teacher-Student Relationships: When students see that teachers are invested in their success and well-being, it can create a more supportive and trusting classroom environment.
How?
Identify:
Use the data you already have (aka your gradebook!)At this point in the quarter, it should be clear who is understanding content and who needs additional supports. You also need to identify the area(s) in which they need help
Develop a plan:
Work with your course team to determine if you can utilize common blocks or office hours to provide opportunities to the students you identified that need remediation or additional supports. Can you divide up the students based on the areas of need?
Execute
