The FSD may increase vigilance or take protective steps on "unaffected" campuses.
The FSD will communicate to staff, students, families, and community pertinent information.
Students
The FSD utilizes age-appropriate training to help students understand the needs during a Soft Lockdown as well as the type of threat that is being responded to.
Students will understand that the threat is outside the building and that they are not in imminent danger.
It is expected that students will want to communicate with parents via cell phone.
Students should refrain from spreading unconfirmed information.
Families
Families should understand that students are not in imminent danger during a Soft Lockdown.
Some steps during a Soft Lockdown will be similar to responses utilized for higher-risk incidents.
The FSD will communicate via email, Remind, Social Media or through Media outlets as needed in a manner that does not hinder response.
The FSD will communicate non-confidential information on a need-to-know basis to the best of their ability during and after a Soft Lockdown.
A Soft Lockdown could last for a significant portion of a school day. The length of the Soft Lockdown does not indicate imminent danger at any time.
