Evacuation
Staff
When given an alert or have determined their classroom/area has become unsafe, will utilize appropriate steps to:
Account for students in the classroom,
Gather necessary equipment/supplies to respond to / manage the emergency,
Necessary check to make sure the evacuation route is safe,
Change route or response if deemed necessary,
Move students to the selected Rally Point.
Students
When given an alert or instructions, will utilize appropriate steps to:
Follow the instructions of the staff member they are under the care of,
If no staff member is immediately available utilize a safe route out of the danger area and present/identify themselves to a staff member as quickly and safely as possible. This may be done in a hallway or once he/she is out of the building and safe.
Families
Will not start receiving information until the initial threat has subsided and there is no longer an immediate threat.
Will more than likely start receiving texts—calls, or information via social media from sources other than the FSD.
Refrain from traveling to the affected school to avoid causing a delay in the FSD's ability to respond, thus potentially causing unnecessary harm or confusion for the FSD and Emergency Responders.
Please keep cell phone use to a minimum with students.
Monitor your phone, Social Media, and Media Outlets for information or instructions on the emergency and how families should respond.
