Hard Lock Down
Staff
Staff will understand the difference between the different types of lockdowns and the reason for their use.
Hard Lockdowns, by nature, are more intensive than Soft Lockdowns.
Though there is no imminent threat to students, Staff will utilize the necessary steps to help keep students safe.
Appropriate staff will engage the identified "threat" and attempt to de-escalate the situation.
Staff will seek assistance from the Farmington Police Department.
Staff will be ready to increase the intensity of the response if circumstances dictate.
Incidents that would require a Hard Lock are usually quickly resolved.
The FSD will communicate with Families efficiently and safely.
Students
The FSD utilizes age-appropriate training to help students understand the needs during a Hard Lockdown and the type of threat being responded to.
Students will understand that though an escalated individual is in the building, they are not in imminent danger.
Students will understand that cell phone use during a Hard Lockdown can further complicate the response and cause unnecessary concerns.
Students will remain calm and listen for further instructions from staff.
Students will understand that if the response escalates to ALICE Response, there is a clear and imminent threat inside the school.
Families
Families should understand the Hard Lockdown response is utilized for an escalated individual in the building.
Families should understand there has been no weapon presented, and the threat/individual is contained away from students.
Families should understand the intensity of the Hard Lockdown is to speed the ALICE response and "stay ahead of the threat" should the incident dictate.
The FSD will communicate via email, Remind, Social Media or through Media outlets as needed in a manner that does not hinder response.
The FSD will communicate non-confidential information on a need-to-know basis to the best of their ability during and after a Hard Lockdown.
