Students

The FSD utilizes age-appropriate training to help students understand the needs during ALICE Response as well as the type of threat that is being responded to.

Students will understand the importance of reporting potential threats immediately, including after school hours.  Potential threats can be reported to the Police or any staff member, preferably an Administrator.

Reports can be made in person, by phone through the FSD's tipline, or through the state's Courage2Report tipline.

Students will understand ALICE Response is utilized for an Active Shooter/Violent Intruder and the urgency of an efficient response.(seconds matter)

Students will understand the steps of response may change depending on circumstances.

Students will understand that cell phone usage for anything other than Police Response will likely cause delays in response outside agencies' ability to respond.

Students will understand that imminent danger may be over (threat neutralized); however, building clearing by police and therefore, evacuation of the building may take longer than desired.

Families

Families should understand that staff are trained yearly in options to keep students safe and mitigate harm during an Active Shooter/Intruder incident.

Families should understand the FSD has communication tools available to alert and respond during ALICE Response.

Families should understand that staff and students are empowered to act on their own with the information they have to stay safe.

Families should know all classrooms in the district have Go Bags in their classroom with Blood Control kits.  Furthermore, staff are trained yearly in "Stop the Bleed."

Following an Active Shooter/Intruder incident, the affected building is a crime scene; it may take hours to clear the affected building and implement the Reunification Plan to return students to their families.

The FSD will communicate information via email, Remind, Social Media or Media outlets to families as soon as it becomes safe

The FSD will not allow parents into an affected building during ALICE Response.  Families will receive communication to direct them to a Reunification site to connect with their students.
