Manage/Stabilize The Situation
Steps that are taken to manage an emergency after the initial response utilized to Save Lives. The FSD will not have the ability activate emergency response teams while an active threat is present.
Steps taken to manage an emergency may include the following:
- Activate Incident Command - utilizes teams to complete sitrep to respond further and keep individuals safe (information flowing from response teams)
- Utilize Response Teams - Deployed as needed and guided by Incident Command
- Student / Staff Accounting - Gathers information to create Situational reports for needs: missing students/staff, medical, etc.
- Medical Team - triage and treatment
- Search and Rescue - triage, treatment, locate and extricate
- Mental Health Team - respond to emotional needs crisis intervention
- Reunification Team - set up site and run reunification plan to return students to families safely and efficiently
What Students Need To Know
Students should continue to listen to staff for information.
Students should report any needs (medical, emotional etc)
Students should continue to avoid/minimize cell phone use.
What Staff Need To Know
The staff knows their Emergency Response team roles.
Staff should know what tools and equipment they are responsible for and how to use the tools/equipment.
Staff must understand how to utilize plans to manage the effects of the emergency encountered.
Staff should be prepared to care for students for an extended period of time.
What Families Need To Know
Families should understand the FSD has plans, equipment, and training to prevent, respond and mitigate harm associated with threats to students.
Families should understand the FSD works with outside agencies to maximize response.
Families should understand that Emergency Operations occur in phases, and we cannot stabilize the incident until we have responded to immediate threats and saved lives/kept individuals safe.
Families should know that traveling to the affected building or calling the affected building before the Reunification plan is activated will interfere with the response.
Families should know they will receive communication regarding updates following an emergency as well as information pertaining to Reunification locations and plans.
Families should understand the person picking up their student must show Identification and be a contact in Infinite Campus.
Community members should not report to any affected building unless the FSD is asking for volunteers.
The FSD will release information to the public via Social Media as well as Media outlets.
