The Franklin & Marshall women's basketball team (5-5, 1-5 CC) gets set to kick off the new year with a non-conference game against Salisbury (6-10, 0-0 Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference) on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. inside the Mayser Center.
Last Week
Over Winter Break, the Diplomats went 2-0 in the WPI Holiday Classic where they defeated both RIT and William Smith.
In the 76-56 win over the Tigers, F&M shot a whopping 56.1 percent from the field with both Ally Trebelev and Jaclyn Feit leading the way with a game-high 18 points each. Feit also led the team with six rebounds and three blocks in the win. Despite trailing 31-30 at halftime, F&M shot 61.3 percent from the field in the second half to roll past RIT. F&M then went on to hold off William Smith, 51-45, to end 2023 with a victory. With the game tied at 27-all, Lauren Rusas made a layup to give the Diplomats the lead - which they held for the remainder of regulation. A 7-1 run at the end of the third quarter jolted F&M ahead on the scoreboard to take down the Herons. Trebelev led the Diplomats with 11 points, while also snagging seven rebounds. Last Time vs. Salisbury
The Diplomats also began the new year last season against Salisbury, where F&M cruised to a 65-54 win over the Sea Gulls. Lizzie Neville knocked down a career-high 24 points and Kennedy Wilburn finished with a double-double (14 points, 14 rebounds) in the win. Read the full recap here.
Salisbury Team Preview
The Sea Gulls enter Saturday's matchup with the Diplomats trying to end a three-game losing streak. Alex Bull leads Salisbury averaging 11.3 points per game and 2.2 steals per game. Nicole Miller also averages double-digit scoring figures at 10.6 points per contest. Cora Shafer is the team's leading rebounder, corraling 6.6 boards per game.
