The Franklin & Marshall women's basketball team (9-9, 4-9 CC) sets its sights on two Centennial Conference (CC) contests this week. The Diplomats travel to play Ursinus (11-8, 7-7 CC) on Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. before returning home to host Muhlenberg (11-8, 6-8 CC) on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
Last Week
F&M fell to Gettysburg, a team receiving votes in the national polls, by a final score of 47-33 on Tuesday. The Diplomats scored the first four points of the game when the Bullets began a 24-0 run. F&M got back within 10 in the second half, but the deficit was too great to overcome. Jaclyn Feit recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. The Diplomats bounced back with a 72-32 routing of Bryn Mawr on Thursday, where F&M shot 41.4 percent from the field and 46.7 percent from beyond the arc. Lizzie Neville led F&M in scoring with 17 points, while shooting 60 percent from the field. Neville also led F&M with three steals in the win. Nine different Diplomats contributed to F&M's 13 steals in the game. Along with Neville, Feit also finished the game with double-digit scoring figures with 15 points and five rebounds in the victory. Last Time vs. Ursinus
The Diplomats suffered its first loss of the 2023-24 campaign, 53-44, against Ursinus back in November. F&M hung with the Bears through the entirety of the contest, but the visitors outscored Franklin & Marshall, 17-10, in the fourth quarter to deny the Diplomats of a comeback. Feit led the team with 12 points and seven rebounds. The senior also contributed three blocks, three steals, and one assist in the contest. Last Time vs. Muhlenberg
Earlier this month, Franklin & Marshall used a big first half to jump ahead of the Mules on the road during the teams' first meeting of the season. Muhlenberg chipped away at the Diplomat lead, but F&M held them off late in the fourth quarter to win, 60-56. Neville chipped in a season-high 16 points, while shooting 58.3 percent from the field. Ursinus Team Preview
Ursinus dropped two of three games last week to losses against Muhlenberg and Johns Hopkins. The Bears however picked up a road victory at Haverford, 55-43, on Thursday. Chinwe Irondi leads UC in points per game (18.1) and rebounds per contest (9.2), while shooting 47.6 percent from the field this season. Natalie Mehl also averages double-digit scoring figures with 11.9 points per game.
Muhlenberg Team Preview
Before the Mules travel to Lancaster to play F&M on Saturday, Muhlenberg hosts Swarthmore on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. Ava Connolly (12.3 points per game) and Rachel Saxton (11.2 points per game) lead the Mules in scoring so far this season. Jenna Stockfeder holds the team-lead in rebounding, averaging 8.9 boards per contest.
