Game Notes

The Franklin & Marshall women's basketball team (3-5, 1-5 CC) concludes 2023 with two non-conference games while competing at the WPI Tournament in Worcester, Massachusetts. The Diplomats battle Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) (3-3, 2-0 Liberty League) on Friday at 6:00 p.m. before playing William Smith (1-7, 1-2 Liberty League) on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.

Last Time Out

The Diplomats fell to Johns Hopkins, 59-42, in F&M's final home game of 2023. Despite F&M leading 25-21 at the halftime intermission, the Blue Jays outscored the Diplomats, 23-5, in the third quarter to take control of the lead. Jaclyn Feit knocked down a career-high three three-pointers to lead F&M in scoring with 15 points. Read the full recap here. 

Franklin & Marshall was then edged, 47-46, on the road at McDaniel on December 9. Both teams traded the lead multiple times throughout the game with the Diplomats holding a 39-33 advantage at the 5:52 mark of the fourth quarter for its largest lead of the contest. However, the Green Terror began a 14-2 run to take 47-41 lead with 1:26 left in the game. A pair of free throws from Quinn Galligan followed by a three-pointer from Lizzie Neville got the Diplomats within a point, but F&M couldn't sink the potential game-winning basket as time expired. Franklin & Marshall and RIT - out of the Liberty League - meet for the first time in program history. 

Last Time vs. William Smith

 Franklin & Marshall and William Smith meet for the second time ever after the two programs last played in 1999. The Herons came away with the victory, 69-60, over the Diplomats. 

RIT Team Preview

RIT had its three-game winning streak snapped on the road at Geneseo, 68-65, before heading to Massachusetts this weekend. The Tigers have two players averaging double-digit scoring figures in Hannah Durand (15.2 points per game) and Emma Waite (10 points per game). Waite also leads the team in assists, averaging 6.2 per contest. 

William Smith Team Preview

The Herons will take on host Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) Friday at 4:00 p.m. before playing the Diplomats on Saturday. William Smith snapped a seven-game losing streak with a 64-54 win against Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute before competing in the WPI Tournament. Brooke Jarvis leads William Smith in points per game (17.5), field goal percentage (41.3 percent), and rebounds per game (8.5).
