The Diplomats look to rebound after coming off an 0-2 week with tough losses to Ursinus and Muhlenberg.
F&M fell to Ursinus, 48-34, on the road Wednesday evening. The Diplomats and Bears were neck-and-neck throughout the first half, but Ursinus pulled away late in the third quarter to secure the victory. Jaclyn Feit led the visitors with eight points, five rebounds, and one block. Gia Sioutis and Ally Trebelev led the Diplomats on the boards with six rebounds each. Franklin & Marshall was downed by Muhlenberg, 56-45, Saturday afternoon at the Mayser Center. The Diplomats trailed by as much as 16 in the third quarter when they started chipping away at the Mules' lead. A three-pointer from Hope Schreiber cut the deficit to six with 1:52 remaining in regulation, but that would be the final bucket in the game for F&M. Feit finished the game two rebounds short of a double-double with 11 points and eight boards in the contest. F&M lost to Johns Hopkins, 59-42, in the Diplomats' final home game of 2023. Despite F&M leading 25-21 at the halftime break, the Blue Jays outscored the home team, 23-5, in the third quarter to take control of the lead. The Diplomats came out on top with a win at home against Haverford, 52-47, during their last matchup on January 20. F&M jumped out to as much as an 11-point lead in the second half. The Fords didn't go away quietly as they cut the deficit to three late in the fourth quarter, but steady shooting at the free throw line helped F&M hold off the visitors during the late push. As a team, F&M shot 90 percent (18-for-20) from the free throw line in the victory. Feit led the Diplomats with 16 points and four blocks. Last Time vs. Swarthmore
Franklin & Marshall came up short against Swarthmore, 60-56, in overtime in mid-January. F&M started the game off slow with just four points in the first quarter, but fought back to cut the Swarthmore lead to 27-17 at halftime. The Diplomats continued to chip away as a three-pointer from Neville tied the game at 39-all with 8:38 remaining in regulation. F&M held a 49-46 lead with seconds on the clock, but a three-pointer from the Garnet tied the score and sent the game to overtime. From that point, the visitors outscored the Diplomats 11-7 in the overtime period to win. Neville tallied 14 points, seven rebounds, and four steals. Johns Hopkins Team Preview
No. 11 Johns Hopkins is coming off its second loss of the season as it fell to No. 25 Gettysburg, 78-67, last Wednesday. JHU has four players averaging double-digit scoring figures, led by Elisabeth Peebles with 13.2 points per game. Following Peebles is Michaela O'Neil (12.2 PPG), Greta Miller (10.5 PPG), and Macie Feldman (10.2 PPG). O'Neil also leads the Blue Jays with a shooting percentage of 43.9 percent from the field. Miller and Feldman are the Blue Jays' top rebounders, averaging 8.7 and 8.2 boards per game respectively.
