AI and Ideation
Ideation
Ideation in photography is the process of planning and generating creative ideas before taking photos.
It involves brainstorming concepts, themes, and emotions that the photographer wants to convey.
Consideration of visual elements such as composition, lighting, angles, and perspectives is part of the ideation phase.
Photographers make decisions about the purpose of the photo and the desired impact on viewers during ideation.
The goal is to shape a vision and plan the creative aspects of the photograph before actually capturing the image.
Conceptual Photography
Conceptual photography is a type of photography that illustrates an idea
Step 1
Divide into groups of 3 and use Chat GPT to come up with conceptual photography ideas to be taken on our campus. These ideas should be challenging, but doable. Pick your favorite.
Step 2
Each group will take the photo prompt and take and edit your best possible picture that responds to that prompt.
Step 3
Now go to Dall E and feed the original prompt that your team was given into the AI image generator. Your group will respond to the three questions below when presenting your images to the class:
How did the AI-generated photo interpret and represent the same prompt that you provided? What similarities or differences did you notice between your original photo and the AI-generated version?
Reflect on the emotions and personal connection you aimed to convey in your photo. In what ways did the AI capture or miss these aspects? How does the human touch in your photo compare to the algorithmic interpretation in the AI-generated image?
Consider the technical and artistic choices you made in responding to the prompt. How did the AI's choices differ, and what impact did these differences have on the overall composition and message of the images?
