Mrs. Tuerack

Hi PLD community! 

I’m Alyssa Tuerack, and I’m thrilled to be starting my third year teaching 5th Grade English Language Arts and Social Studies at Perry L. Drew School. Before teaching, I worked as a guidance counselor, and that lens still guides my classroom: we focus on belonging, goal-setting, and growing strong readers, writers, and citizens. In ELA and SS, you’ll see lively discussion, thoughtful text analysis, purposeful writing, and lots of collaboration. I especially enjoy helping students discover books they connect with and encouraging a lifelong love of reading. I value strong connections with families and believe clear, consistent communication helps every student succeed. When I’m not at school, I’m with my husband and our two energetic boys—usually having living-room dance parties or cheering from the sidelines. Looking forward to an amazing year together!
