Thank you for stopping by! I'm Mrs. Mendoza. I get the privilege of spending my days with the gifted & talented and enrichment students at Perry L. Drew! Students in the G&T/Enrichment classroom are encouraged to think outside of the box, welcome challenges, collaborate with their classmates, and be leaders among peers.
I look forward to another great year with students at PLD! Please email me at jlmendoza@ewrsd.k12.nj.us with any questions!

3rd Grade Reading Enrichment: A small group of 3rd grade students will join me each week for a language arts lesson utilizing a process called shared inquiry. We will focus on enriching literacy standards through student questioning. Students in this group will be chosen based on STAR reading scores.
4th and 5th Grade Math Enrichment: A group of students will join me each week for an accelerated math lesson using a program called Teach to One. This program meets the student at their level and will expect them to be moving along grade level standards (and above) independently.
4th and 5th Grade G&T Project: These students will meet with me for one hour a week on a hands-on and challenging project. Projects include experiencing the entrepreneurial cycle and environmental science in 4th grade; and financial literacy and the research cycle in 5th grade.
Identification process: This process happens throughout the year through various identification measures: CogAt, NNAT3, STAR, and teacher/parent referrals.
