Potential students who wish to enroll in Adult Education and Literacy classes must:
Be authorized to work in the United States
Have a valid government issued photo ID (see below for ID requirements) & Social Security Card;
Acceptable IDs for class
US Real Drivers License/State ID (with Yellow or Black Star)
Social Security Card
US Military ID
US birth certificate
US Passport (book or card)
US Employment Authorization Card
US Permanent Resident Card
NOT Accepted
United States Limited Term Driver’s License
International Passports (non-U.S.)
F-1, J-1, H-4, B-1/B-2, Spousal, or K-1 Visa documents
Mexico Matricula Consular (Consular ID)
Foreign National ID Cards
Foreign Birth Certificates
ADDITIONALLY, POTENTIAL STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED to do the following:
Complete registration paperwork through ConnectAble & finalize it with an Adult Education representative
Attend an HSE Pathways to Success Orientation session
Be administered the Test for Adult Basic Education (TABE) for pre-assessment in-person
Attend an advising session with your Literacy Instructor in-person
Complete 40 class contact hours or more
Complete 2-4 hours outside in class in your Distance Learning Curriculum
Be administered a post-assessment in-person
Do not miss three or more absences in an 6 week cycle
