Potential students who wish to enroll in Adult Education and Literacy classes must:

• Be authorized to work in the United States 

• Have a valid government issued photo ID (see below for ID requirements) & Social Security Card;

        • • US Real Drivers License/State ID (with Yellow or Black Star)

          • Social Security Card

          • US Military ID

          • US birth certificate

          • US Passport (book or card)

          • US Employment Authorization Card

          • US Permanent Resident Card

      • NOT Accepted

        • • United States Limited Term Driver’s License

          • International Passports (non-U.S.)

          • F-1, J-1, H-4, B-1/B-2, Spousal, or K-1 Visa documents

          • Mexico Matricula Consular (Consular ID)

          • Foreign National ID Cards

          • Foreign Birth Certificates

ADDITIONALLY, POTENTIAL STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED to do the following:

• • Complete registration paperwork through ConnectAble & finalize it with an Adult Education representative

  • Attend an HSE Pathways to Success Orientation session

  • Be administered the Test for Adult Basic Education (TABE) for pre-assessment in-person

  • Attend an advising session with your Literacy Instructor in-person

  • Complete 40 class contact hours or more

  • Complete 2-4 hours outside in class in your Distance Learning Curriculum 

  • Be administered a post-assessment in-person

  • Do not miss three or more absences in an 6 week cycle
