Acceptable IDs for Class - click here to view the TWC AEL-Approved Work Authorization and Identity Documentation. Students must present the program with acceptable documents from these lists as evidence of identity and employment authorization to be eligible for services.

Must be authorized to work in the United States
Complete registration paperwork through ConnectAble & finalize it with an Adult Education representative
Be administered TABE (Test Adult Basic Education) Baseline Assessment Test in-person at your testing appointment
Attend an HUB (Helping You Build) IET Orientation session
Attend 40 or more instructional hours of Healthcare Academy class & take a post-assessment
Miss no more than three absences in an 8-week session
Be active and complete at least 2-4 hours per week in the distance learning curriculum

In partnership with Vernon College, we have an additional course to the Occupational Training course of Vernon College that's available to students. Students gain the knowledge, skills, and competencies essential to providing basic care to residents of long-term care facilities. The course topics include resident rights and safety, effective communication, effective interaction with the health care team, assisting residents in maintaining basic comfort and personal care. Students will be required to complete both courses (Vernon College & Region 9 AEL). Below are the following Helping You Build (HUB) Healthcare Academy IET courses that are available:
Phlebotomy
Certified Nursing Assistant
Medical Assistant
