Acceptable IDs for Class - click here to view the TWC AEL-Approved Work Authorization and Identity Documentation. Students must present the program with acceptable documents from these lists as evidence of identity and employment authorization to be eligible for services.

Must be authorized to work in the United States
Complete registration paperwork through ConnectAble & finalize it with an Adult Education representative
Be administered TABE (Test Adult Basic Education) Baseline Assessment Test in-person at your testing appointment
Attend an Pathways to College & Career session
Attend 40 or more instructional hours & take a post-assessment
Miss no more than three absences in an 8-week session
Be active and complete at least 2-4 hours per week in the distance learning curriculum

Region 9 Education Service Center Adult Education and Literacy department offers many supports for adults seeking to further their careers and/or education. Those enrolled will access information and guidance to help adult students:

progress through life transitions
prepare for and enroll in college, trade, or vocational school
establish themselves in a new career
meet current commitments and goals

The Region 9 Adult Education & Literacy College & Career Pathway program is an academic support program for students training in one of our designated career pathway fields for in-demand careers. It organizes education, training, and other services to meet the particular needs of an individual in a manner that accelerates their education and career advancement. The program is a selective program, but once complete, students can be immediately employable. We are in the process of developing classes (i.e. STARS) for our Helping You Build (HUB) Career Academy which will include academic prep for the Texas Success Initiative (TSI).

In this entry-level course, students gain the knowledge in workplace readiness, financial literacy, career readiness, and digital literacy along with understanding the onboarding process of enrolling into our IET classes or enrolling into college.
