Carlibar Communication Service (CCS) is an East Renfrewshire resource for Early Learning and Childcare and primary aged children who require intensive additional support with:

• Language and communication needs

• Social interaction

• Rigidity and flexibility of thinking

• Emotional and sensory regulation

 The service is based within Carlibar Primary School and provides a wide range of support for pupils from across East Renfrewshire schools.

 The service is made up of four key elements:

1. Pre-school Assessment and Development Unit (PSADU) offering support to Early Learning and Childcare aged children

2. Carlibar Communication Centre (CCC) offering support to primary aged children

3. Outreach support (Primary and Early Learning and Childcare)

4. Consultation and advice to schools and parents.

Each of these services provide pupils with additional support to meet their educational needs in a setting which is right for them.

The Carlibar Communication Service is part of the Carlibar Campus.  Our CSS staff can provide support for children either within Carlibar or within a child’s mainstream nursery or school.  In most cases, support is provided to achieve mainstream inclusion.  This can be over the short, medium or long term.  We work with all pre-school and primary schools across East Renfrewshire to ensure the best support for children.

The Carlibar Campus was built in 2006 and comprises Carlibar Family Centre, Carlibar Primary school and CCS. The campus enjoys a range of excellent facilities such as an outdoor multi-use games arena (MUGA), recording studio, dance studio, gym hall, art room, science room, two music rooms, soft play area, sensory room, fiction library and e-library.  We also have designated pre-school and primary aged learning environments that are specifically designed to meet children’s language and communication needs where appropriate.

We aim to make children, parents and their families feel welcome in the school at all times. You are free to visit the school at any time and we aim to make sure that any enquiries are dealt with promptly and courteously.  If you wish to speak with any member of staff please call or email the school office to make an appointment.

We strive to ensure that every child supported by Carlibar Communication Service has the opportunity to attain, achieve and flourish through meaningful and motivating learning experiences. We aim to achieve this by working closely with parents, staff within East Renfrewshire nurseries and schools, as well as partner agencies.
