(Grade 12 only: Do this if you are enrolled in English I, II, or III OR Geometry or Algebra I or II. If you have NONE of these courses, move on to Day 7.)

Study Island is a requirement for all Epic students and is a big piece of the puzzle. Study Island is linked exactly to the standards that the Oklahoma State Department of Education sets for our students. Once you have shown mastery of skills here, then we know you are ready for the next level!

You may be required to use a HWH tutor a specified number of times each week/month. Most students use the tutors when working in Study Island. This is explained in detail below.

In your first tab, you should log in to Study Island. In a second tab, log into your Study Island but leave this tab open. Remember, the username is standard format, followed by "@epic" and your password has a lowercase "e" on the epic1234.

FIRST: Download, Enable, and/or Install "FEV Tutor Share Screen" to your Chromebook. This allows the HWH tutors to share your screen. You may also be required to disable your existing Screen Share Sync. FEV Tutor Share Screen is an extension and must be added. ONCE YOU HAVE INSTALLED THIS EXTENSION, follow the steps below.

1. In Study Island, click on OK Programs.

2. Click on your ELA standards link.

3. Choose the first topic in the list, right AFTER the diagnostic test. Yours may have a different title.

4. Study Island is not an instructional program. Instead, it's more a skills mastery program; however, it does have "refresher" information that you can read through BEFORE taking the quiz (which is labeled "Practice"). Look through every page and watch every video in the lesson before clicking on the "Practice" tab. This is where you will take the quiz. You may not get help with this section. Answer all questions to the best of your ability.

5. Open and study, but you do NOT need to print, the Printable Worksheet. If you can answer these questions, you are ready for Step 6. If you are unable to answer these, you need to study the lesson again, as well as search for the name of YOUR TOPIC on www.khanacademy.com and review the material until you ARE comfortable with the Printable Worksheet.

6. When YOU ARE READY: Open a new tab and log into your Homework Help.

7. Join Session

8. Curriculum = Study Island

9. Course = Topic Name (Blue title of ribbon)

10. Assignment/Problem = Supervise Practice Ribbon

11. Once a tutor connects, you will ask them to supervise your Practice Ribbon. You will be required to use the Share Screen function. Type this into the chat window: Will you supervise my ribbon Practice and put it in the session notes?

12. Complete your very first English ribbon now.
