EP Marching Band - Homecoming Parade

On the Wednesday of Homecoming Week, the East Peoria Marching Band participated in the school’s Homecoming Parade. They marched from Bolin Elementary School to the high school, and were decked out in school spirit! They played “We’re Off to See the Wizard,” which lined up with the school’s theme of “There’s no place like homecoming!”

Freshman skit

The class of 2026 freshmen chose to not perform a skit to save themselves the embarrassment and pain.

Homecoming Football Game

On Friday, September 30, the Raider football team faced off against the Washington Panthers in the homecoming football game. The student section was a sea of maroon and gold, with pom poms and rally towels aplenty. While the Raiders could not gain any traction in their 51-7 loss, the night still brought plenty of excitement to the crowd in attendance.

On Monday, September 26th, Lydia Eaker and Sebastian Sanchez were crowned King and Queen for Homecoming. The title of royalty was presented at the all-school assembly on Monday, and the attendants were featured in the Homecoming Parade and football game. Cheer Hoco Performance 2022

Cheerleaders were bummed they were unable to perform at the Variety Show due to one of their teammates being injured minutes before they went on...So this September 30th the Cheer Team performed at the Friday Night Football Game halftime! The girls worked very hard all season for their routine and let their skills shine on the field that night!

HOCO Spirit Days -

For spirit days this Homecoming week a large population of the school participated in pajama day, western day, twin day, class color day, and maroon and gold day. The number of students participating in the spirit days translated directly to the number of points earned. Pajama day, also known as it was all just a dream day was on Monday. Western day was Tuesday. Twin day, which witch is which?, was Wednesday. Thursday was class color day with seniors being green, juniors blue, sophomores pink, and freshman in light grey. Friday was maroon and gold day to support our raider football team against Washington for the football game that night. All in all, the spirit days this year showed real raider pride! Thank you to all who participated.

Junior Hallway

Junior Hallway was located in C hall this year. They were given the dark forest theme and had to transform the hallway into a forest. They set the mood by using black paper to cover the sunlight coming in. This created a gloomy atmosphere each time you walked in. Vines were hung up all around the hallway. Some were even hung up on “trees” made from brown paper. This gave off the illusion that you were traversing through a dark forest, almost as if you were in the movie. Finally, there were many warnings about flying monkeys in the forest. These messages were seen near the beginning of each hallway entrance.

Senior Hallway

As you may have seen during spirit week, the hallways were decorated thanks to the help of the students in the corresponding classes for competition in homecoming’s “battle of the classes”. In said competition classes do activities like decorating the classes hallway, dressing up for the themed days, finding the hidden item of the day, and raider games. This year’s senior hallway theme was the emerald city following the overall theme of wizard of oz.

The people who decorated the senior hallway were either from the student council, people they invited, or other invited participants. One of the student council members, Emily Maze, usually does a lot of behind-the-scenes work and helps a lot with the senior hallway. In an interview, Emily said, “ decorating the hall is always a good time with your friends”.

Anyone interested in decorating their hallway needs to get in contact with either someone who is already decorating or Mrs. Zachman. Decorating is a great way to spend time with your friends and we hope to see you decorating next year!

Raiderette Homecoming Performance

This year's homecoming routine was titled "We Ready" and the Raiderettes proved how ready they were to perform this dance. This hip hop dance was also part of their variety show routine, which also included

Pep Rally

Everyone had a great time at the Pep Rally on the Friday before homecoming. Students got to play games such as musical chairs, guessing the following lyric of a song related to The Wizard of Oz, minute-to-win-it games, and more as well as learning about the winner of Homecoming week, which of course, was the seniors!

Insider Of Hoco Parade

Insider on the Homecoming Parade from a Cheerleader and Varsity Golfer. The HOCO Parade is a night where all varsity athletes ride on float or firetrucks. We go through route throwing candy and waving at friends and family. Being able to be apart of the parade is a highlight of HOCO week!

Auto shop cookout

Friday during homecoming week Mr Baxter hosted a homecoming cookout. Some activities going on were ping pong, football, and tons to eat. Students in their auto classes came together to bring food and drinks as well as games and other activities. Jack Dubois stated “I had tons of fun in my auto class smoking kids in ping pong.”

Junior Class Skit

Objection, here say! Do you hate map testing? Apparently the juniors do. They decided they wanted to to do a court trial arguing if Mr. Yang if he was guilty of messing with map testing. Speaking of the trial, which he was ultimately found guilty. He also had some great improve skills during the skit. Which was a surprise for everyone.

Sophomore Hallway

The sophomore class’ hallway was filled with many bright colors to celebrate spirit week. The overall theme was Wizard of Oz; the sophomore theme more specifically being munchkin land. In the hallway you would be able to find bright colors hung on the lights, balloons, and paper puff balls. Stringers and candy made out of pool noodles were also added to their hall. Overall it was a great hallway and better luck next year on winning!

Ruby Slipper

On September 26th, Justin Gale along with a group of Seniors found the Red Ruby Slipper. After using the clues efficiently it didn't take long for Justin Gale to find the slipper behind a trash bin inside one of the lockers in C hallway, giving the Seniors 50 more points! Go Seniors!

Variety Show Hosts

Magge Cowen and Maggie Kapusta hosted the variety show this year. They introduced acts with their witty jokes and at the end they even did the worm. Magge Cowen is the student council president and Maggie Kapusta is the vice president.
