At Emanuel I have learnt that an individual is valued not only for what they achieve or what they can do, but for the person they are and what they can offer others.

Lauren’s educational journey has been what could be described as ‘eclectic’. She took a break from formal schooling to pursue full-time dancing career for two and a half years. She subsequently chose to continue her education at Emanuel, where she felt at home immediately. “I’ve only been here for two years, but from the moment I settled in I felt a sense of warmth and safety at the School.”

Lauren is a very tenacious student. She describes herself as a person “who displays determination and motivation in all facets of life and someone who has the strength to deal with all challenging situations in a mature manner”. Lauren believes that Emanuel has taught her the value of hard work and the opportunities that even failure can bring. “The only expectation one must have of themselves is to do the best they can do, and know that it is the times that we don’t succeed that build our character and makes us stronger”.

A highlight of Lauren’s time at Emanuel was the relationships she developed with her teachers. “I have been fortunate enough not only to gain knowledge from them, but the strength to keep pushing through to the end and to put 110% into everything I do.”

Lauren is particularly proud of the numerous academic awards she received in 2016, namely the Mathematics, PDHPE, Business and Biology Prizes, an Academic Proficiency Award and an award for Commitment and Dedicated Service to the Emanuel School Community.
