Where is a good place to hold the camp? That depends on what you are planning to do and what spaces you have available. We hold our camp at a pavilion at a local park. The pavilion has an indoor area with bathrooms and a small kitchen, while the outdoor area has picnic tables and grass. You can hold your camp at your school, a park, or any other place available to you. Here’s some tips:

• If you need to reserve the space ahead of time, do so. Securing park pavilions or space at school may require this.
• Some places may charge a fee, which you should plan for in your budget.
• Make sure the location has air conditioning if you live in a warm place where heat stroke is a danger.
• Don’t hold your camp in a location that has no indoor areas because you will have nowhere to go if it rains.
• Make sure there are bathrooms available.
• A sink for water and a fridge to store lunches is also very nice

In October or November prior to your camp, inquire about how to reserve the location for the date. There may be a cost and forms associated with a reservation. Many locations open up their calendars on the first working day of January. Make sure to make your reservation as soon as possible to get the dates you want.
