Arrive to camp early the first day to set everything up just as you like it. Depending on what you are doing, an hour or so should be adequate. Decide which team members will be running each activity, and make sure they know how to run it. Also, consider setting aside an area for the kids to stash their backpacks and lunches.
When the kids arrive, sign them in by checking them off on the roster sheet. One teammate can lead a game of some sort for the early arrivals until everyone is there.
Game ideas:
· Duck-Duck-Goose
· Red Light – Green Light
· 20 questions (with STEM related terms, of course)
· Charades
· Sharks and Minnows
Once everyone has arrived, gather all the children in one place to do an introduction. Explain FIRST robotics and talk about your team. After that, explain how your camp will work and what is expected of the kids.
When everyone is ready, begin your camp activities.
When the kids’ parents arrive to pick them up, check the kids off your list again to make sure no one is missing.
Hopefully your camp will run smoothly... like these gears!
