Why EGYM Works

EGYM was developed using state-of-the-art exercise science. Different fitness goals require different workouts – a weightlifter works out differently than someone who has never strength trained.

In order to make sure you start at a comfortable level, never overtrain, and always keep improving, EGYM adapts the following settings on each piece of equipment based on your goal, progress and body type:

  • Weight: If you want to gain muscle, EGYM will set a higher training weight whereas a lower weight is sufficient for rehabbing.

  • Number of Reps: Many repetitions with lower weight define the muscle, whereas few repetitions with higher weight develop hypertrophy.

  • Training Duration: EGYM automatically alternates training duration to target your specific training goal (longer durations for weight loss, shorter more intense durations for strength)

  • Speed of Movement: A fast, explosive movement has a different effect than a long slow movement.

EGYM offers two different versions of the machine software. Using these together with different configurations can provide your membership ample opportunity for success.

Standalone Mode

In this configuration, the EGYM equipment is configured independently with no predetermined transition time.

Machines in standalone mode are an ideal addition to an EGYM circuit to attract expert members who may want additional control over training and resting time.

Circuit Mode

In circuit mode, different EGYM equipment is arranged in a circle to provide a full body workout in about 30 minutes.

This setup ensures guided transition between machines thereby increasing availability during peak hours and allowing a single trainer to support many members simultaneously.

A timer built into the equipment defines training and resting time for each member and ensures that they all transition from one machine to the next at the same time.

Transition occurs every 110 seconds. Depending on what training method the member is using, the proportion of that time devoted to training versus resting is adapted by the equipment automatically.
