Y5 HALF TERM 6

Biodiversity

On Tuesday afternoon 'Hands on Science' held a workshop on 'Biodiversity'. Year 5 learnt of the pressures on many of our habitats and the importance of maintaining diversity in the health of individual species on our planet. Using Cheetahs as the exemplar for children's learning and investigations, the children discovered the threats Cheetahs are facing in their habitats and about the ways this creature has adapted to its changing environments. We made, cast and decorated a full sized cheetah paw print to take home!

Whole School Art Day - Chinese Art

Today, the whole of EFPS took part in Art activities linked to a country for Art day. We learnt all about Chinese paintings and looked at some beautiful examples. Then we created our own pieces following the techniques we had seen and here are some photos of them in production! These will be available to see at Open school in July.

Soup Making

As part of their studies on South America, the year 5 children had the chance to develop their chopping and peeling skills when they made a South American soup. It ended up being very tasty!

Mobile Assault Course

The whole school enjoyed an active and energetic session on the mobile assault course that was in school recently. Please find the pictures of the year 5 children being put through their paces! It was great for building confidence too.
