Last Tuesday we spent the afternoon Chritsmas crafting. We made intricate hangong decorations, following instructions carefully to cut paper and secure together to make Christmas stars. We also used old wrapping paper to decorate boxes to keep our sock monkeys in. A manic but fun afternoon!
We have repurposed old socks, WW2 style, to make soft toy sock monkeys. These took a great deal of time and effort, making us realise how many skills children would have acquired during the war. We will be bringing these home for Christmas!
Last Tuesday, on a bright November day, we donned our identification labels and headed to Wat Tyler Country Park for an Evacuee day. We learnt so much about how WW2 began and what life was like for an evacuee during the war years. We are now able to spot enemy aircraft in the skies, react appropriately to an air raid and even administer first aid! It was a great day and we are especially grateful to the parent helpers who really got stuck in to the activities.
