AUTUMN BIRDS

Learning Intention: We are going to learn about the season of Autumn.

Success Criteria: I can tell you what season we are in and describe what happens in Autumn.

The task:

Autumn is the time when it starts to rain a lot more and some birds in Australia love the rain! The currawong is one of those birds.

Watch the video below:

Here are some currawong birds singing after the rain.

Here are some other Australian birds, singing after the rain.

The Magpie

The Rainbow Lorikeet

Have you ever seen these birds or heard their beautiful songs? Which ones have you seen and heard

You can attract these birds to your garden by making bird feeders.

Make this bird feeder and hang it in your garden. You might need an adult to help you. Take a photo and upload it to Seesaw. You could add a photo or two of the birds that come to eat it.

Take a cardboard tub

Spread peanut butter or honey on the tube.

Place some birdseed on a plate and roll the tube in the birdseed.

Thread a piece of string through the tube and tie it to create a handle

Hang the tube in a tree.

If you don't have string you can just place the roll on a branch like this.

Here are some different designs that you might like to try.

If you want to make a different type of bird feeder, there are lots to choose from on this website:
