Welcome back! We hope you had a safe and relaxing break. We are so excited to get back into the classroom next week.
Year 4 Google Classroom Code - ur5ks6p
Work will be uploaded on a Friday afternoon, ready for the following week.
Writing: This week, students will complete some prompt based writing, aimed at easing them back into writing work for Term 4. They will then undertake two reflective activities, which will assist them in exploring how they are feeling about returning to school in Week 2.
Spelling/Vocabulary: Students will focus on growing their vocabularies this week. They will find new and interesting words in books that they read, and complete a series of activities designed to support the process of learning the meaning of these new words.
Reading: This week, students will begin by re-establishing routines and behaviours that promote growth as a reader. They will complete two days of reading reflections, by responding to given questions about the good fit texts that they choose. Students will then start some tasks that ask them to positively reflect on themselves and the home learning journey they have experienced this year.
Numeracy: This week is all about exploring the range of mental strategies that students can use to solve addition equations. Students will learn about three main mental strategies (jump, split and compensation) and will explore how these can be used to find answers. They will have opportunities to discuss the effectiveness and efficiency of each strategy, and will form preferences as to which method they prefer.
Year 4 Students are expected to complete 60 minutes of Literacy and 45 minutes of Mathematics each day.
