Stress sourced from relatively minor troubles or concerns that arise in day to day living. These hassles are irritants or events that annoy or bother us which can make us upset or angry. These can occur on a regular basis and can either have a slight or strong effect. They are not usually stressful alone but can accumulate to become quite stressful.
These involve change that forces us to adapt to new circumstances. these usually have immediate consequences and require longer term adjustments. life event are stressors that involve personal choices and may be pleasant or unpleasant.
Refers to the stress people experience in trying to adapt to a new culture when living in it for a considerable period of time.
An event that is extraordinarily stressful or disturbing for most people who experience it. can be a one off event or or be ongoing and relentless. It is a terrible, frightening and stressful and does not necessarily have to be experienced directly. they are psychologically traumatic.
An unpredictable event that causes widespread damage or suffering. the event is a stressor of massive proportion and one that majority of people involved would interpret as being stressful. it usually occurs suddenly, affects many people simultaneously and is completely out of their control. Can either be natural or attributable to humans.
