Description
Legal Studies examines the role of law in society and the relationship between law, justice and social values. Students explore how laws are created, applied and reformed in Australia and internationally, including the significance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Customary Lore and its ongoing relevance. The course develops understanding of legal rights, responsibilities and contemporary issues such as technology, justice and social change. Students evaluate legal evidence, multiple perspectives and legal reforms. Legal Studies builds confidence in accessing the legal system and encourages socially aware, legally literate citizens, preparing students for careers in law, education, public service and policy.
