Description:
The Health and Movement Science course is structured to provide students with opportunities to develop and apply their knowledge, understanding and skills of health and movement concepts.
This course draws on a multitude of fields and the application of scientific concepts to actively engage students in learning about the factors that influence health and movement. Students investigate the health status of Australians and the interrelated factors that affect the health of individuals and communities. Students explore the factors that influence movement and performance and develop the skills to enhance movement for themselves and others throughout their lifetime.
The course provides opportunities to explore areas of interest in greater depth and apply health and movement concepts to various contexts and groups. Where appropriate, case studies and practical application are to be integrated throughout student learning in Health in an Australian and Global Context, Training for Improved Performance, and the Depth Studies. To equip students to navigate the dynamic nature of health and movement, emphasis is given to developing skills of collaboration, analysis, communication, creative thinking, problem-solving and research.
Health and Movement Science builds on the foundational knowledge, understanding and skills developed in the PDHPE K–10 course.
