Description:
The Music 1 course is for any Stage 6 student with a desire to develop their skills in an instrument/voice – including students that did not study Music in Stage 5. Students will develop knowledge and skills about the concepts of music and of music as an art form through performance, composition, musicology and aural activities in a variety of cultural and historical contexts. They will develop the skills to evaluate music critically and gain an understanding of the impact of technology on music.
Course requirements:
Course must be studied with: Nil
Course cannot be studied with: Music 2, Music Extension
Major work(s): In addition to core studies in performance, composition, musicology and aural, HSC students nominate any combination of THREE elective studies, choosing from Performance, Composition and/or Musicology. These electives must represent each of the 3 topics studied in the course in the HSC
Course fee will cover: specialist software subscriptions and consumables.
