Description:
This course provides opportunities for students to develop their skills and knowledge of Japanese. Through tasks associated with a range of texts and text types, students gain an insight into the culture and language of Japanese-speaking communities through the study of a range of texts.

Additional requirements:
Students are learning the language as a second (or additional) language. Students typically have studied the language for 200–400 hours (at least 2 years) at the commencement of Stage 6.
Students were not brought up in a home where the language is used, and they have no connection to that culture.
Students have had no more than one year’s formal education from the first year of primary education (Year 1) in a school where the language is the medium of instruction.
Students have had no more than three years residency in the past 10 years in a country where the language is the medium of communication.
The three prescribed themes are: the individual, the Japanese-speaking communities, the changing world.
