NSW School of Languages
Other Elective Courses in various languages can be offered in Stage 6 though distance education from the NSW School of Languages. The NSW School of Languages support student's learning through a diverse program of online learning materials, speaking lessons, video conferencing, online forums and emails. Study days are also a feature at the NSW School of Languages where students enjoy the opportunity to meet with other students and staff. Please Note:
For completion of an application to attend NSW School of Languages, approval will be required from Inner Sydney High School. This process will include an interview with the student and their family.
Evidence of the following criteria will be needed for approval to finalise application with the NSW School of Languages. If your application is successful, external tuition costs will be required.
Step 1 – Email the school at innersydney-h.school@det.nsw.edu.au FAO Mr Earle and Ms Sugowdz to register your interest in the NSW School of Languages. The school will then arrange a time for an interview. All emails must be sent by the end of Term 2. The interview will take place in Term 3.
Step 2 – During the interview the following criteria will need to be addressed:
Understanding of the requirements of the selected Language Course.
Meeting the In Quota/Out of Quota requirements (In Quota/Out of Quota requirements is covered on page 9 and 10 of the application from NSW School of Languages). Click here for a link to the application.
Demonstrated capacity as an effective independent and self directed learner.
o Where applicable, bring supporting evidence such as reports, work samples and e-portfolios.
Ability for the school to facilitate this application, minimising disruption on student’s engagement with courses conducted onsite.
Step 3 – Complete the application and gather required signatures to demonstrate:
Endorsement from the student’s family
Endorsement from Inner Sydney High School Principal or delegate
Accepted by the NSW School of Languages provided the school does not exceed the quota of students allowed to study via NSW School of Languages.

Secondary College of Languages
Students can also enrol in the Secondary College of Languages for access to languages that are not offered as Elective Courses at IN_SYD. This is a flexible, face to face option that takes place on Saturdays across one of the 14 campuses in the Secondary College of Languages.
