Description:
The English Advanced course is designed for students who have a particular interest and ability in the subject and who desire to engage with challenging learning experiences that will enrich their personal, intellectual, academic, social, and vocational lives. Students appreciate, analyse, and respond imaginatively and critically to literary texts drawn from a range of personal, social, historical and cultural contexts, including literature from the past and present and from Australian and other cultures. They study challenging written, spoken, visual, multimodal, and digital texts that represent and reflect a changing global world.

Course cannot be studied with: English EAL/D, English Studies or English Standard

Other course requirement(s): English Advanced is a pre-requisite of enrolment in English Extension 1 and English Extension 2.
HSC English Advanced requires the close study of FOUR prescribed texts, one drawn from EACH of the following categories:
Shakespearean drama
prose fiction
poetry OR drama
nonfiction OR film OR media OR a text from one of the categories above.
Course fee will cover: Consumables and subscriptions related to prescribed and related texts.
Additional resourcing requirements for the course: Students are encouraged to purchase the prescribed HSC texts.
