Transport

Technology has helped build different and better types of transport over time.

Look at these two pictures of cars- there are lots of differences on the outside and inside!

In the past, materials were sometimes not easy to find, very expensive or never been used yet!

Things like comfy seats, air conditioning and even the radio were not always around.

What other things do you have in your car that run on technology?

In the past, trains ran on burning coal. We now know that coal is not good for the environment and other types of trains are used.

Most trains now have a type of engine that powers the wheels.

Some trains are being made now to make sure they are environmentally friendly, which means they are not hurting our environment.

In other countries there are now trains called 'bullet trains'. These trains can go nearly 3 times as fast as a car travelling on a highway.

Technology has helped us build planes which can transport us any where in the world.

Did you know that the first type of aircraft that was made for passengers was slower than the speed of a train?

They could only fly in the day and could hold less than 20 people.

They also were very cold due to the materials that were used to build planes.

Today, planes are a lot more comfortable and travel very fast.

You can get nearly anywhere in the world in less than 24 hours.

They have food and drinks available because they have technology to heat food and keep drinks cool.

Some flights even have screens on the chairs to watch movies and tv shows.
