Cattai National Park

Cattai National Park is located on Wisemans Ferry Road. It is located in the suburb of Cattai.

It is 424 hectares large. 1 hectare is about the size of one large football field.

The National Park is split up into three sections: Cattai Park, Mitchell Park and Hope Farm.

The national park has camping grounds, walking tracks and barbecue and picnic areas.

The Hope Farm section is not open for visitors. It has one of the first buildings built by settlers in Australia.

It is heritage listed for a few different reasons:

  • The Darug clan were the original owners of the land

  • The history between Aboriginal people and European settlers

  • Some existing buildings of the past are still standing

  • It has unique trees and plants that are not found in the area often

  • It is the natural habitat for many native and introduced animals
