Box Hill Inn

Box Hill Inn is located on Windsor Road in the suburb of Box Hill.

An Inn is a place of accommodation like a hotel. They also serve food and drinks.

In the past, Inns would be found along the country side or highways and were used for travellers to rest.

The Box Hill Inn was built in 1825. It's name was changed in 1848 to the Bee Hive Inn. It was owned by many pioneers. A pioneer is a person who is one of the first to explore a new area or place.

It is heritage listed for a few different reasons:

  • The building is very old and looks mostly the same as it did in the past

  • It is one of the only Inns left in the area

  • It is a reminder of those who first settled or came to the area
