Third Government Farm

Third Government Farm was located on Gilbert Road, Castle Hill.

Third Government Farm is now known as Castle Hill Heritage Park.

The park was remade in 2004 and has stories about the history of the site all around.

The park has walking tracks, picnic and barbecue areas and playgrounds.

It is heritage listed for a few different reasons:

  • The site was originally a farm where convicts were used as slaves

  • It was the place where the convicts planned a fight against the government

  • The site had many different uses over the years including a mental health facility, a hospital, a school and then used for orcharding

  • The land and hills remain similar as they did in the past
