Visual arts

  • Draw a picture of your favourite pet. Write a sentence about it e.g. My favourite pet is a _______.

  • Use crayons/pencils/paint to make an interesting artwork.

  • Print some of your favourite photos and make a collage.

Drama

  • Play charades and act out various animals and see if someone can guess what you are doing.

  • Act out your favourite nursery rhyme

Music

Introduction

  • Discuss music – what is it? What does it mean to you? Student answers could include noise, sound, singing, instruments, dance, audience.

  • Discuss how music can be loud or soft (dynamics), fast or slow (duration – tempo), low or high (pitch)

  • Discuss how music has a beat – start tapping a beat on knees, have students join in. Beat can be fast or slow.

  • Discuss how beat mostly stays the same through the song or piece of music.

  • Sing along to a nursery rhyme or favourite song.


Dance

  • Make up a dance to your favourite song.

  • Learn how to do the chicken dance
