On Friday, May 24, 2024, a reading competition was held for students in classes III and IV. Each class was represented by two participants, making for a total of 18 competitors. The event took place during the designated reading hours, providing a platform for young readers to showcase their skills and enthusiasm for literature. The main objectives for the competition were:
To encourage a love for reading among students.
To improve students' reading comprehension and fluency.
To develop public speaking and presentation skills.
To foster a sense of healthy competition
The competition was judged by four teachers who did not belong to either of the classes involved.
This impartial panel was composed to ensure fair and unbiased evaluation of the participants' performances. The judges assessed the competitors based on several criteria, including Fluency, Pronunciation, Expression, and Comprehension. Each participant was given unseen passage to read aloud, which allowed them to demonstrate their ability to engage with the text and convey its meaning effectively.
The atmosphere among the children was one of excitement and encouragement, with classmates and teachers present to support the participants. The young readers approached the competition with a mix of nervousness and determination, each eager to perform their best. Their readings reflected their talents and enthusiasm.
