SUN CREAM
In line with NHS and East Lothian Council Policies, we must apply suncream whenever the UV Index Rating Reaches 3.0. Within ELC’s guidance, the recommended website we use for measuring the UV index is: https://uv.willyweather.co.uk/dg/east-lothian/north-berwick.html
Sun cream should be applied at home before coming to nursery and the staff will apply and continue to top up for the duration of the day when needed.
Remember to provide a named sun hat too for the warmer weather.
When the UV becomes very high, we will encourage children to have some time inside or in the shade, as advised within the guidance.
If you forget to apply suncream, you will be asked at drop off time to apply some in the family room area. If your child requires their own suncream due to allergies or sensitive skin, we will provide you with an alternative Topical Cream Medication form. We aim to always use Nivea Kids SPF 50+ or Tesco Soliel Kids Sensitive Skin 50+, however we have experienced in the past that sometimes these creams are out of stock. We hope that we don’t face this problem but if we do we will let you know.
