Tracking is part of the cycle of ongoing reporting and the expectation would be that each setting must set up a tracking system that suits their needs and indicates how every child is progressing. Practitioners cannot track every child for all ‘on track statements’ but should have a system of tracking a child’s development and learning. Some settings may choose to have a tracker with all of the statements on it which they mark as they are achieved over the child’s time in nursery while others may choose to have a tracker which contains focus statements from the working plan.

- To look at progress of individuals and to ensure that they all have equal opportunities and access to learning experiences and can make progress
