*Vibrio azureus strain LC2-005T
2005年淡青丸航海で分離した株。16S rRNAの全長を決めても、種がよく分からず困っていたが、ルシフェラーゼ遺伝子を決めて系統樹を書いてみたところ既知種と異なることが分かり、新種記載に至った。しかも、他のVibiro属発光細菌と発光色が明らかに異なり、細胞内に青色蛍光タンパク質(のちにVA-BFPと命名)を持つことが分かった。これまでVibrio属で蛍光タンパク質を持つ株は知られていなかったので、蛍光タンパク質をもつ初のVibiro属発光細菌です。

分離源:Strains LC2-005T and LC2-102 were isolated from seawater samples obtained from Kuroshio Region (32°30’ N, 138°00’ E) and Sagami Bay (35°00’ N, 139°20’ E) during cruises KT-05-16 (2005) and KT-05-31 (2005) of RV ‘Tansei Maru’.
名前:Vibrio azureus (a.zur'e.us. N.L. masc. adj. azureus azure blue, referring to the colour of emitted light).
*Photobacterium aquimaris strain LC2-065T
こちらも2005年淡青丸航海で分離した発光細菌。これもVibrio azureusと同様に、この種なんだ?分からないぞ〜、と思っていたところ新種でした。この株も青色蛍光タンパク質を作り、非常に強い光を放ちます。他のPhotobacterium属は魚から分離されたものばかりだったので、名前は海の水とつけました。

分離源:Strains LC2-065T and LC2-086 were isolated from seawater samples taken from Sagami Bay (35°00’ N, 139°20’ E) during the KT-05-16 cruise of RV ‘Tansei Maru’ (2005).

*Aliivibrio sifiae strain H1-1T
これは晴海埠頭の海水から分離した発光細菌です。この株は遺伝子解析から発光細菌で唯一黄色く光るY1株と同種であることが分かりました(H1-1は黄色く光らないですが)。このY1という株は、分離された時はVibrio fischeri strain Y1と報告されています(Ruby and Nealson 1977 science)。その後、属が再分類されAliivibrio fischeriに、そして、ついに私が正式にAliivibrio sifiaeと提案しました!最初の報告から33年経ちようやく名前がつきました!北欧神話の黄金の髪を持つシブ(Sif)が名前の由来です(ただしこの名前は別の論文で、Y1を含むルシフェラーゼクレードに付けられた名称です。既にsifiaeクレードと呼ばれていたので、それを引き継ぎ私が正式な名前として提案したという経緯です)。

分離源:Strain H1-1T (NBRC 105001T) and H1-2 (NBRC 105002) were isolated from surface seawater at Harumi Pier in Tokyo Bay, Japan in 2007.
名前:Aliivibrio sifiae (si.fi’a.e. N.L. fem. Gen. n sifiae of Sif, the name of Norse goddess. Sif’s hair was made of gold, and the name was chosen to reflect the yellow color of the luminescence).
*Vibrio sagamiensis strain LC2-047T
その名の通り、相模湾から分離した発光細菌です。こちらは、Vibrio azureusと非常に近縁ですが、ルシフェラーゼ遺伝子の系統が異なりDNA/DNAハイブリで別種と判定されたので新種として提案しました。既に名前のアイデア不足で、分離源を名前につけてしまいました。

分離源:Strain LC2-047T (NBRC 104589T) and strain LC1- 908 (NBRC 104590) were isolated from seawater, obtained from Sagami Bay (35°00’ N, 139°20’ E) during the KT-05-16 cruise of R/V Tansei Maru and an equatorial area (0005’ N, 17000’ E) during the KH-04-5 cruise of R/V Hakuho Maru.

この株はいろいろな経緯があり私の分離した菌ではありませんが、この種と同種の発光細菌を私がたくさん分離してたこともあり、新種として提案しました。そのような経緯から、Vibrio関係者が著者にたくさん含まれる論文になっています。

*Rubricoccus marinus strain SG-29T (新属新種)
私がこれまで分離した中で、既知種との16S rRNA遺伝子配列の相同性が最も低かった株です(86.1%)。最初見た時は、『えっ、何かの間違いじゃない』と思ったくらい。新目?新科?と思っていたのですが、あまりにも近縁種の情報が少なすぎて(近縁なグループは好熱細菌と好塩細菌)、新属にしかなりませんでした(事情がいろいろあります)。新属提案をした時は、Bacteroidetes門、Cytophagia綱でしたが、その後、このバクテリアを含むグループは再分類されRhodothermaeota門、Rubricoccaceae科になり、科の名前になりました(新属提案いこう私は何もしてませんが)!
*珍しい株なので、ゲノム解析を行ったところ、新規ロドプシンを持つなど色々新しい発見がありました!

海洋地球研究船「みらい」で分離した細菌です。当時は新属クラスが何株も分離できて、大興奮でした!

*Nonlabens marinus strain S1-08T(新種)
海洋地球研究船「みらい」で分離した細菌です。この株をゲノム解析したところ、ゲノム上に機能の異なる3つのロドプシンを持つことが分かりました。ゲノム上に3つのイオン輸送型ロドプシンを持つ初の例になっただけでなく、細菌からの初のCl-輸送型ロドプシン(ClRと命名)が見つかったのもこの株です。

*Rubrivirga marina strain SAORIC-28T(新属新種)
2nd著者のSongさん(当時大学院生)が淡青丸航海で深海(3000 m)から分離した細菌です。Rubricoccus marinusと近縁ですが、新属新種です。このグループは不思議なことに、大気海洋研究所の航海からしか報告がありません。
