This year, due to the Covid19 pandemic, students will be required to purchase an art kit. The kit will cost $25 and will include some basic supplies. Students must bring their art kits to class every day and are not allowed to share supplies to help prevent the spread of the virus. The kit contains the following items:
9” x 12” 100 sheet sketchbook
12” ruler
8-count watercolor pan set
8-count broad marker set
8-count thin marker set
24-count Crayola color pencil set
Two 28-ounce glue sticks
1 pencil sharpener
A set of blending stumps (tortillons)
2 sharpies
1 eraser
Here is a list of supplies that students may purchase on their own. These are not part of the art kit and should be purchased by SCULPTURE STUDENTS ONLY:
three Jergans mild soap bar 3-count (in other words 9 soaps in total; each 3-pack costs $1)
1 cooking foil lasagna pan (costs $1)
A small box of toothpicks (costs $1)
1 cheap cheese grater (costs $1)
Aluminum foil roll (costs $1)
A pair of scissors
Watercolor brushes
Watercolor sketchbook (90lb paper weight or higher)
Cheap construction paper
Students need to purchase art kits. Once the kits arrive, the art teacher will be able to sell the kits to students. Note that the teacher can only accept checks or money orders; no cash payments. If the student wants to pay with a credit or debit card or cash, they need to pay the accounting office on C-hall and get a receipt from the bookkeeper to get the kit from the teacher. Only 200 kits were ordered, and they are limited to 1 kit per student. They are on a first come first serve basis, so supplies are limited. If a student does not buy a kit in time, they might have to buy all their art supplies on their own. This year due to the Coronavirus pandemic, students cannot share kits and the teacher cannot offer class sets to students. If a parent has trouble purchasing the art kit due to financial difficulty, they should call the front office and ask to communicate with Communities In School. This organization is there to help students and families obtain supplies.
How to pay:
· Mr. Fuentes will be able to collect checks or money orders during class time. Make checks/money orders to Permian High School art department
· Students paying in cash or card need to go the bookkeeper, Mrs. Cervantes, in C-Hall before school, after school or during lunch.
If you need help in obtaining the above supplies and/or paying your art fee, resources are available. Please call the front office at (432) 456-0039 and ask to speak with our counselor from “Communities in Schools”. She will be able to help with whatever you need.
