Danish artist John Kenn Mortensen (also known as Don Kenn) writes and directs television shows for kids, but during his free time he pays tribute to the darker, spookier side of childhood filled with monsters and ghosts. Ugly, terrifying and bone-chilling monsters creep out of the darkest childhood nightmares and right into Kenn’s sticky notes. That’s right – the artist draws his highly imaginative little scenarios, where kids meet ghastly monsters, entirely on yellow post-its. In this contect, the creativity and intricacy of these little drawings truly leaves one in awe.
Mortensen's drawings on sticky notes take up the entire sheet of paper and are filled with many different kinds of lines, shapes, patterns and textures to complete the composition. They often depict normal every day scenes which suddenly become interrupted by the appearance of spooky monsters.
Make sure to include your name, date, class period and written information (title, short story, description of lines) in the "add private comment" section before submitting your assignment. If you are turning in a physical assignment packet or paper containing this week's drawings, make sure you include the written information on the side of your sticky note or small square.
