This interactive, project-based course helps students develop the digital communication skills needed for college, careers, and civic participation. Students create a variety of technology-enhanced products, such as websites, podcasts, screencasts, and digital texts, while learning to communicate ideas clearly, responsibly, and effectively across digital platforms. Students will also examine how digital media shapes society, including ethical, legal, privacy, and security considerations. This course is offered for dual enrollment with SCSU. Students will earn 3 credits in EDU 106: New Literacies upon registering for and successfully completing the course.  The course is especially relevant for students considering careers in teaching or education, but is open to anyone seeking to strengthen digital literacy, communication, and civic engagement skills. This course introduces students to teaching and education-related careers by exploring how schools operate and how teachers support learning, equity, and student growth. Through discussion, reflection, and inquiry, students examine the roles educators play within schools and communities while considering their own interests in working with young people. A required 30-hour field experience places students in real classrooms, giving them firsthand exposure to the day-to-day work of educators and helping them connect coursework to professional practice. This course is offered for dual enrollment credit through SCSU. Students will earn 3 credits for EDU 200 at SCSU if they register for the Early College program. Earn College Credit
