This course is designed for students who have an interest in fashion, and gives students experiences in making designs as well as rendering various features in fashion/accessories, using a variety of techniques, including drapery, hand-rendering, digital rendering, and creating mood boards. The emphasis will be designing for the fashion and accessories industry through using historical and contemporary trends. The focus will be on the rendering techniques; both by hand and using technology. An introduction to historical and contemporary issues of textile will be incorporated into the experiences. Students will be introduced to the drapery and crafts using mannequins, fabrics, leather, and shoe lasts on a limited basis.

This course builds on the skills and prior foundational knowledge of the history of fashion gained in Fashion I and begins the study of contemporary designers. Students will study color theory to develop their understanding of why certain colors work better depending on the individual. Students will create and fabricate their own pieces. Students will examine the business aspects of the fashion world such as branding, pricing, wholesale vs retail etc. Students will be given "real world" applications of the industry.
