NOTE-Licensed trades require classroom hours and work hours for an individual to receive state licensure. The following educational institutions offer courses to fulfill the classroom hours complement. An individual can be hired by any licensed company as an apprentice at anytime in order to start accumulating work hours.

CT Technical Education and Career System

The Connecticut Technical Education and Career System (CTECS) offers apprenticeship training programs at seven locations across the state, with courses available both online and in person. These programs are open to both registered and non-registered apprentices, and CTECS provides affordable tuition compared to many other schools. If you’re not a registered apprentice, you can still take classes as an extension student. You can use the course credit toward future apprenticeship requirements, or simply take a class to learn something new. Students under 18 must have a parent’s permission to enroll.

Our apprenticeship/craft training program efficiently moves apprentices through the required coursework by covering multiple topics per year. Completion of our apprenticeship program fulfills the Related Instruction hour requirements as mandated by the Connecticut Department of Labor. While the classroom hours are applied towards the required Related Instruction hours for each trade, we also incorporate hands-on learning whenever possible and as our curriculum prescribes.
