Students at Parkdale take Math daily for 60 minutes using the engageNY modules
Pre-K mathematics is about (1) developing an understanding of whole numbers using concrete materials, including concepts of correspondence, counting, cardinality, and comparison; and (2) describing shapes in their environment.
K mathematics is about (1) representing, relating, and operating on whole numbers, initially with sets of objects; and (2) describing shapes and space.
1st grade mathematics is about (1) developing understanding of addition, subtraction, and strategies for addition and subtraction within 20; (2) developing understanding of whole number relationships and place value, including grouping in tens and ones; (3) developing understanding of linear measurement and measuring lengths as iterating length units; and (4) reasoning about attributes of, and composing and decomposing geometric shapes.
2nd grade mathematics is about (1) extending understanding of base-ten notation; (2) building fluency with addition and subtraction; (3) using standard units of measure; and (4) describing and analyzing shapes.
3rd grade mathematics is about (1) developing understanding of multiplication and division and strategies for multiplication and division within 100; (2) developing understanding of fractions, especially unit fractions (fractions with numerator 1); (3) developing understanding of the structure of rectangular arrays and of area; and (4) describing and analyzing two-dimensional shapes.
4th grade mathematics is about (1) developing understanding and fluency with multi-digit multiplication, and developing understanding of dividing to find quotients involving multi-digit dividends; (2) developing an understanding of fraction equivalence, addition and subtraction of fractions with like denominators, and multiplication of fractions by whole numbers; and (3) understanding that geometric figures can be analyzed and classified based on their properties, such as having parallel sides, perpendicular sides, particular angle measures, and symmetry.

Students at EAHS enrolled in HS math courses have Math for 41 minutes daily.
The Regents course sequence is comprised of Algebra I, Geometry and Algebra 2.
All students must pass Algebra 1, as well as the Regents exam to qualify for a NYS Regents Diploma.
Students who complete Geometry Regents and Algebra 2 Regents (Courses and Regents exams) have completed the Math requirement for an Advanced Regents Diploma.
All Regents courses follow the Common Core curriculum but will be transitioning to the Next Generation Math standards in the next few years.
In accordance with New York State requirements, all students are required to earn 3 credits.
HS courses are also offered in:
Intro to Algebra, Applied Geometry and Intermediate Algebra for students who require more help with foundational skills.
Elective courses include Algebra in the Real World, Pre-Calculus, AP Statistics and AP Calculus.
AIS Math services are provided through small group instruction.
Algebra Lab is provided for students who benefit from extra help while taking the Algebra I Regents course.
Some courses are co-taught with a math certified teacher and a math certified special education teacher.
For a description of each HS Math course, please see the course catalog below.
