Howdy Tiger Families!
What a great week it has been at Cypress Springs! Our students are showing kindness, focus, and a true love for learning as we move further into the school year. We are so proud of their hard work and growth each day. Thank you for the many ways you support our school, it truly makes a difference!
Lockdown Discussion Drill: To help prepare our students for emergency situations, we will be conducting a Lockdown Discussion Drill on Tuesday, this coming week. This is an educational discussion, not an actual lockdown drill with first responders. This preparatory discussion ensures students understand what to do during in the event of an actual lockdown drill. Teachers will guide students through conversations about lockdown procedures, review our Standard Response Protocol, and answer questions. We encourage you to discuss the drill with your child to support their learning and comfort. Thank you for partnering with us to keep our school safe.
Advanced Academics Information Night & GT Testing: An Advanced Academics and Gifted and Talented Parent Information Night will be held on Tuesday, September 30th, from 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm at the CL&L to guide families in knowing how to request testing for gifted and talented services in DSISD. The window for parents to request GT testing is open from October 1, 2025, through November 14, 2025. For additional information, and to access the referral link on October 1st or after, please visit the DSISD Gifted and Talented website.
The DSISD Gifted & Talented referral link will be live and open on the DSISD GT Website from October 1-November 14. During this window, parents may complete the referral form for their student to be tested for the DSISD Gifted & Talented Program. As a reminder, DSISD does not hold whole grade level GT screeners and tests by parent referral only. For more details on the DSISD GT program, please visit the DSISD GT website.
Toys at School: Parents, we ask for your support in keeping toys at home unless your child’s teacher has specifically requested otherwise. Recently, some toys have been brought out in the gym and cafeteria before school, which has created some distractions and challenges. Thank you for helping us maintain a smooth and focused start to the school day!
A couple of school arrival reminders:
Please drive slowly and carefully when entering and exiting our parking lot during drop-off. The safety of our students and staff is our top priority, and we appreciate your caution as everyone arrives at school.
Student drop-off begins at 7:10 a.m. Please do not drop students off before this time, as staff supervision is not available until then. If you arrive early, we ask that parents remain with their children until 7:10. Thank you for helping us keep all students safe!
September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. Take a look at this flyer created by our LMHPs for ways to support!

2025-26 DSISD Student Handbook / Code of Conduct: The Dripping Springs ISD Student Code of Conduct for the 2025-26 school year was approved by the Board of Trustees at the August 25th board meeting.
The DSISD Student Code of Conduct and Student Handbook are complementary documents with the Code of Conduct providing detailed policy and the Handbook providing general guidance. These documents are updated annually to provide updated policies, guidance, and clarity. Parents and students are encouraged to review the documents to understand expectations for student behavior.
Some notable changes to the 2025-26 Student Code of Conduct include the DSISD Personal Communication Device Policy and consequences which were adopted in accordance with House Bill (HB) 1481 as well as updates to teacher removals and discipline consequences in accordance with HB 6.
If parents or students have questions regarding non-discipline topics, the Student Handbook is a helpful resource. This document contains information on topics from attendance to student IDs to graduation requirements.
CSES Mission: We Trust! We Accept! We Persevere!
We look forward to seeing you at Meet the Teacher!

Build Vocabulary Together: Strong readers need a strong vocabulary. Try introducing one “new word of the day” at dinner or in the car. Talk about what it means, use it in a sentence, and encourage your child to do the same. Over time, these small steps help grow language and comprehension skills.
